Harp Road Club History

The Harp Road Club was founded in 1938. It became a thriving cycle racing club with its members participating in both road races and time trials.

At its zenith the club also promoted several events each year including the Harp Hilly Hundred reliability ride which is still run every January.

These pages which hope to document some of the history of the Harp Road Club were originally a project started by Bryan Hutt and are a work in progress.

Club Colours

Club colours have now gone the full circle from the original yellow jersey with horizontal green band across the chest,

through the 1970s yellow jersey with vertical green stripe down the left hand side of the jersey,

to the complete change in the mid 1980s of a red jersey and white side panels with the Harp name in black lettering,

and finally in 2012 returned to the original yellow and green colours for the club jerseys, with the addition of the clubs name in white lettering across the chest and the Harp badge on the shoulders.
